Thanks to the Guaranteed Ride Home Program provided by your employer and the ABC TMA your worries are over!

Many people let legitimate fears of being stranded at the office or being unable to respond to a family emergency, keep them from taking advantage of commuting options. With the Guaranteed Ride Home program you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride on transit, in a carpool or vanpool, walking or bicycling to work knowing that if plans should unexpectedly change you are covered- guaranteed.

How the program works:

The ride is on us! Registering and using the Guaranteed Ride Home program costs you nothing- we pay for all transportation costs, including gas, tolls, and gratuity.

All rides are provided by PlanetTran, the Nation's first public livery service to utilize ultra fuel efficient hybrid vehicles exclusively. Upon registration you will receive an electronic voucher via email from PlanetTran. When an emergency arrives simply call PlanetTran at 1-888-756-8876 and provide the dispatcher with your voucher number. In the event of unscheduled overtime, please call PlanetTran as soon as possible to notify them that you will need a vehicle for later in the evening to ensure vehicle availability.

Emergencies qualifying for use of the Guaranteed Ride Home program include the following. Remember, use of the program is permitted when there is no bus or train service within 30 minutes of when you need to leave. If your situation is not listed below please feel free to contact ABC TMA at 617-502-6246 or 617-502-6251 for assistance.

• you get sick or injured and need to go home, emergency room, etc. and are unable to use public transportation
• a family member becomes sick or injured and you need to go home/school/daycare/hospital
• you are notified of a personal/family emergency (house is flooding)
• you have unexpected/unscheduled overtime (normally work till 6pm but asked to stay to 7pm to finish a report and the next bus/train isn't until 8:00pm.
• if cycling, you may use the program in the event that your bike is damaged (flat tire, broken chain, etc) while commuting to or at wor and public transportation is not available within 30 minutes. Poor weather (rain/snow) does not qualify.

The following incidents/events do not qualify for use of the GRH program. Use of the program under one of these reasons may result in your removal from the program and reimursement of ride costs.

• MBTA service disruptions
• scheduled meetings/events taking place after normal business hours
• Inclement weather
• Patriots/Red Sox/Celtics/Bruins win and you were busy celebrating

You get all the advantages of using a commuting option. Reduced stress, more free time, and cost savings are just some of the benefits you will receive by leaving your car at home. To be eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home program you must take transit, carpool, vanpool, walk or bicycle to work more than one day a week.

Register today! In order to participate in the Guaranteed Ride Home program you must be registered in our data base. Please review the GRH Program Rules & Procedures and complete the registration form. Once you are registered you can use the program whenever needed, up to six times in a six-month period. It is that easy.

Tips for a Smooth Ride Home:

• If you may need to use the program for a ride home after 9:00pm please contact PlanetTran as soon as possible to ensure vehicle availability and a quick pick up. If you find out at 3:00pm that you will need to work late but don't know what time you will be finished, you can call PlanetTran to notify them that you will need a ride home at an estimated time and then call them periodically to update them on your need. If you finish your work and a train is leaving within 30 minutes you can cancel your reservation with PlanetTran.
• Always be sure to submit a confirmation report after using the Guaranteed Ride Home program in order to receive your new voucher number. ABC TMA operates on a 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri schedule, if you realize at 7:00pm that you need a ride home but do not have an active voucher number you will be out of luck.
• Register before an emergency arises! Registration in the Guaranteed Ride Home program can take up to five (5) business days. If you wait until there is an actual emergency or its 2:00am, you may not be able to be approved and receive a voucher to assist you at that time. ABC TMA does not reimburse participants who have paid for their own cab fare home.

Who Is Eligible?

Any employee or tenant of an ABC TMA member company, and who is currently using public transit, carpool, vanpool, walking or biking to work at least two days a week or more, is eligible to join.
