What is Massachusetts Car-Free Week?
World Car-Free Day is on September 22nd. The movement began in Europe and has spread around the world as a way to promote the environmental, financial, community, and health benefits of using public transportation, carpooling, bicycling, walking, and teleworking.
This year, MassCommute TMAs and MassDOT are celebrating all week (September 18 – 24, 2011) by sponsoring activities, online promotions and onsite events.

There are lots of ways you can participate in Massachusetts Car-Free Week:
Bicycle or walk to work or to run errands, try teleworking for the day, find a carpool partner and share your trip, vanpool, or take public transportation. ABC TMA has many resources to help you plan your Car-Free trip.
Track your Trips!
Don't forget to track your Car-Free trips! Individuals can track their Car-Free trip anytime during the week of September 18 - 24. All participants will be entered to win one of our great prizes.

Employees/E/TTC’s: ABC TMA member companies are pre-registered - if you don’t see your company, let us know and we’ll make sure to add your worksite immediately.
Travel car-free as many days as you can from September 18 - 24, 2011 and track your trips! Participants will be eligible to win daily prizes, two first places prizes, and our grand prize - a $250 Amazon gift card. This promotion is FREE and it’s easy to participate!

Car-Free Week Prizes
Did you commute Car-Free* to work or to a meeting during the workday? Or did you commute Car-Free for another purpose during the day (take the kids to school, run errands, or go to a movie or other social event…)?
If so, you are eligible for one of this year’s Car-Free Week prizes!]
In order to increase your chances of winning, don’t forget to LOG ALL of your Car-Free trips each day! Every time you log a Car-Free trip – work or other trip, your name is entered into a daily raffle to win great prizes. Winners will be drawn randomly from all aggregate entries received up to the time of each daily raffle. First place and grand prize winners will be drawn from all entries received prior to Monday, 9/26/11 and will be drawn on that day.**

**Prize winners will be announced on Twitter (#MACarFree). Winners will also be notified directly via e-mail.
Grand Prize: One lucky participant will win a $250 Amazon Gift Card.
First Prize: Two participants will win a $100 Amazon Gift Card.
Daily Prizes: Participants logging at least one trip on each of the following days, will be entered to win one of the following daily prizes:
- Monday, 9/19: $50 REI Gift Card

Rules:
Participants must log at least one Car-Free Week trip to be eligible to win the grand prize or one of the two first prizes. The more trips you enter, the better your chances of winning. To be eligible to win the daily prize, you must have logged at least one Car-Free Week trip on that day or on the preceding days of the week.
